Fishing Tournament is one of those events that looks like a quick side activity until you realise how much value a tidy cast can carry. Every trip has two parts: getting the hook deep enough to see worthwhile catches, then choosing what comes back with you. Play both parts well and the Tokens, points, Guild rewards, and collection progress start to build on each other.
- Regular cast
- 1 Bait
- Bait refill
- 1 / 3h
- starts with 5
- Bait cap
- 10
- do not let it sit full
- Ocean Prospector
- 1 Chart
- kit is maxed
How the event works
There are two ways to fish.
- Regular Fishing costs one Bait per cast. You begin with five Baits, gain one every three hours, and cannot hold more than ten.
- Ocean Prospector costs one Treasure Chart. It sends you into a richer fishing area with a fully upgraded Fishing Kit, rarer catches, and a chance at Ocean Chests.
Each cast pays Fishing Points and Fishing Tokens. Points help your Fishing Guild progress and feed the Master Fisher leaderboard. Tokens are what you spend on Fishing Kit upgrades and Sunken Treasure Hunts.
The first few casts: get depth before you chase rank
When the hook is dropping, hold and drag it left or right to avoid fish. This is the calm part of the run. Do not try to collect things on the way down. The goal is maximum depth, because deeper water gives you access to better targets on the way back up.
Once the line starts rising, switch from survival to selection. Your hook can only carry so much, so do not weave across the screen for every ordinary fish. Prioritise a clean line to:
- Higher-star fish that are within easy reach
- Treasure Chests when they do not cost you a better catch
- Struggling Mermaids, whose help can improve the Token and Point rewards from the run
If a cast begins badly, protect the depth first. A few tempting targets near the surface are rarely worth ending the descent early.
Upgrade the Fishing Kit early
Fishing Tokens are most useful at the start of a season. Your three kit pieces change what every later cast can do:
| Upgrade | What it changes | Practical priority |
|---|---|---|
| Line | Maximum depth | Take this first when deeper water is still locked behind your reach. |
| Hook | Maximum haul per cast | Raise it once your line is reaching valuable targets consistently. |
| Sinker | Starting depth | A good follow-up when the extra head start makes deep runs easier. |
For most players, Line, Hook, then Sinker is the cleanest starting order. It is not a rigid rule. If a Sinker level is what makes your next depth range comfortable, take it. The important part is spending Tokens early enough for the upgrades to affect many casts.
When special items are worth using
Special items make a strong run safer or more valuable. They are best used with a clear purpose, not ticked on every cast out of habit.
| Item | Best time to use it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Fishing Voucher | A cast with strong depth and a valuable haul | Adds a 1.5x bonus to Fishing Tokens and Fishing Points during tally. |
| Reel | A crowded descent where one mistake would ruin the run | Protects the line from two instant pullbacks. Each extra Reel adds two more. |
| Lantern | Deep runs past 300m | Restores visibility in the dark water. |
| Ocean Scanner | You are looking for a rare catch on the way up | Points out the direction and distance of nearby rare fish while you retract. |
Be deliberate at the loadout screen. A selected special item is deducted even if the cast does not end up needing it. The upside is that unused special items stay with you for the next event session, so there is no reason to burn through them on low-potential runs.
Ocean Prospector and Power Cast
Ocean Prospector is the fast route to a high-value run. Because the Fishing Kit is already maxed in this mode, a Treasure Chart is especially useful early in the event when you need Tokens to build your Regular Fishing kit. Treat it as an opportunity to make a good score bigger, not a reason to force a bad line through a crowded screen.
Power Cast is a later-game tool. It unlocks only after you have a max-level Fishing Kit and have discovered 50 Fish Guide entries in the current season. It uses multiple Baits or Treasure Charts at once and multiplies the points and Tokens from the cast. Fishing Vouchers can stack on top of that bonus.
The rule is simple: use Power Cast when you can repeat a high-quality run. Do not use it to rescue a sloppy attempt. Multiplying a weak score only makes the mistake more expensive.
A simple Fishing Tournament routine
- Check the Bait timer and make sure the bar is not stuck at ten.
- Use an early Ocean Prospector run if you have a Treasure Chart and want a quick Token boost.
- Spend those Tokens on the kit straight away, usually Line first.
- On every cast, descend cleanly, then take only the catches worth the hook space.
- Save Vouchers, Reels, Lanterns, and Scanners for a run that can actually use them.
- Do not chase a leaderboard push after the cost stops making sense. Guild rewards, milestones, and Fish Guide progress still make regular play pay.

Frequently asked questions
Fishing Tournament rewards patience more than frantic movement. Keep the Bait timer running, build a useful kit before the season is half over, and make the return trip count. A few clean casts will do more for your progress than a pile of rushed ones.
